Car Crashes Truck Near Laurel Hill Tunnnel
Two men were injured Monday morning on the turnpike when their car rear ended a truck four miles west of Laurel Hill tunnel. Frank Karpas, 27, of Duquesne, was admitted to Somerset Community hospital for cuts and bruises, and Ray Shimkus, 23, of Duquesne, the car’s driver, received dispensary treatment. The truck was operated by Alfred Haworth, 31, of Gary Indiana. Total damage was $1,000.

Band concert time moved to seven on courthouse plaza
The 110th Regiment band concert set for 7:30 p.m. Sunday on the courthouse plaza has been moved up to 7 p.m. Officials said rain would postpone the event indefinitely. The concert is the second in a series of summer programs by the civic improvement committee. All work and contributions are offered gratis by band members, conductors, and sponsors. The first concert was held in June by the Somerset Community Band.

Boy Lost In Desert Found Alive After 35 Mile Walk
Eight year old Gary McCarthy survived a 35 mile trek in the Tortolita foothills before searchers located him near Oracle Junction.
