Two Brothers Die in Garrett Reservoir Drowning
Two young brothers Frank O Baker six and James F Baker nine drowned at the Garrett Water Company reservoir while fishing with their sister Kathleen eleven. The father Harry E Baker of Garrett, unable to swim, sought help as the boys vanished into a twenty foot deep hole. Firefighters from Somerset Garrett and Berlin assisted along with bystanders and the body’s recovery was by Merle Layton the caretaker. Coroner P C Dosch ruled drowning with no inquest. The grieving family includes the parents and sisters Kathleen Mary and Genevieve.
