Roy Schmuck 30 of Rockwood RD 3 was badly hurt when his right foot was crushed by the cylinders of an Allis Chalmers combine at 4 15 Tuesday on the Glenn Younkin farm between New Lexington and Scullen. He was adjusting the loose canvas while the machine operated and the gear jammed stopping the motor. Dale Schmuck pulled him from the machine and he was taken to Somerset Community hospital where amputation of part of the foot was needed. Schmuck, married with three children, was farming at his parents place. The farm dealer noted the machine was new and had already been used for oats on the Schmuck place. He questioned why the adjustment was attempted during operation. Condition after surgery listed as fair.
