Eighth Navy Plane Crash Fatality Reported in California
In California the navy confirms the eighth fatality from crashes linked to Camp Kearny and San Diego Bay. Aviation Machinist’s Mate third class R O Chrisinger died at Naval Hospital, bringing to eight the total deaths from torpedo plane crash at Camp Kearny and patrol bombers 13 and 14 off National City. Chrisinger, a bomber 13 crew member, is survived by his father William L Chrisinger of Winfield Iowa.

Jane Toppan Dies at 81 Poisoner Known for 100 Murders
Taunton Mass August 17 Jane Toppan 81, famous as a poisoner, died today at Taunton state hospital where she had been inmate for 36 years. Arrested at 45, she confessed killing at least 100 people including Capt Abner Toppan and his wife. Acquitted of murder due to inherited insanity, she was committed June 24 1902 to life in a state hospital.
