Plane crash in York kills student pilot and injures passenger
In York on August 15 a small plane crashed near William C. Winters 22 and C. LeRoy Shepp 33 of West York. Winters died, Shepp was severely injured, and a field near Winters' home was the scene. Hermon Kephart Augustine age 15 and James Daniels age 13 drowned at Reidmore dam on estate of Kenneth Reid state fish commissioner. Both boys could not swim and tried to rescue each other as Firemen recovered bodies by grappling hooks. Two Injured As Crash Causes Reckless Driving Charge
Two motorists were hospitalized after a Route 219 collision one and a quarter miles north of Somerset Saturday at 10 45 am. Samuel A Kennedy of 763 North Center avenue sustained head abrasions and a neck injury with slight improvement Sunday night. George Morgan of Acosta suffered forehead lacerations and numerous bruises and will face reckless driving charges. Bruce Smith and Edward Morrell, both of Acosta, were treated and released. Police said Kennedy stopped for a left turn causing Morgan to rear end Kennedy. Morgan allegedly traveled at high speed. Damages were estimated at 100 dollars for the Kennedy truck and 500 dollars for the Morgan car.
