Monticello Utah officials called for state experts to determine the cause of a savage blast at the Lariat cafe killing 15 patrons and injuring at least 25. Cook Is Released From Farview to Beaver County Authority
Paul J. Cook, 35, who had been committed to Farview State Hospital for the Criminally Insane for the 1939 slaying of his parents and sister, is ordered released and turned over to Beaver county authorities. Judge Robert S. McCreary granted the release after a petition by Dr. John P. Shovlin, citing recovery from mental illness. Cook, indicted for the May 17, 1939 killings in South Beaver township, had been adjudged insane by a sanity commission and, along with five other inmates, once escaped security custody before being recaptured. Prosecution may await the next term of court.
