Parks and the library stayed padlocked after Saturday integration efforts.
Lawyers for 61 year old fugitive Dr Robert A Soblen prepared a legal onslaught in Britain to block his deportation to the United States where he faces a life sentence as a convicted Soviet spy Soblen is temporarily safe after a deportation order from the British Home Office and an attempt by El Al to remove him from British territory a writ of habeas corpus was planned for Tuesday as the Israel government praised the effort and urged a lawful solution See SOBLEN on Page Two
The Tam O'Shanters All-Girl Kiltie Corps of Somerset won two prizes at Romney West Virginia’s bicentennial celebration featuring bands drum and bugle corps pipe bands and drill teams from five states and DC. In the morning Field Drill Contest the Golden Drum Corps of Hagerstown placed first Knights of Erin of Winchester second and the Tam O'Shanters third. In the afternoon parade band division Highlanders Legion Band Elkins claimed first Lonaconing City Band Maryland second and Tam O'Shanters third. The Tam O'Shanters now hold the Tri-State Jr Majorette Drill Championship. The 1962 contest will be at Kenneywood Park Pittsburgh this Friday. The Tammys cannot compete but may perform an exhibition drill.
Thousands of armed men on both sides of the Red Wall prepared to guard against protests on the first anniversary of the barrier. East Germany mobilized a 20,000 strong border force with factory militia ready. no incidents reported by midnight. Crosses carried by West Berlin students appeared in Kreuzberg, while Russian patrols increased in Karlshorst as soldiers were seen along the barrier.

Camp PARC No. 8 at Laurel Hill State Park opened Sunday with 27 children reporting for camp. Preparation had been made for 35. The camp program runs all week and is open to visitors. Rev. At least eight traffic deaths occurred over the weekend with two non traffic fatalities in Pittsburgh and Hazleton. Victims include Spring Mount and Telford residents among others, plus two Sewickley youths who drowned in the Ohio River.
Two crashes on the Pennsylvania Turnpike left four out of state residents hospitalized. Juris Krasts 19 of Flushing N Y fell asleep at the wheel causing a total loss near New Stanton. His passenger Elbira Krasts suffered a fractured arm and facial injuries. The second crash near Laurel Hill Tunnel involved Nellie May Lauphier Lathrop Cal and Mildred Cornelia Fleming Baltimore Md. Passengers Nanie Dawson 69 and Tecumseh C Dawson 70 of Baltimore Md were admitted with minor damage to their vehicle.
A Saturday afternoon blaze caused about 3500 in damage to the Dale Miller family's cement block home near Somerset. The fire originated in the bedroom and was blamed on an overheated furnace. Fire crews from Bakersville and the Somerset Volunteer Fire Department responded. Mrs Miller with two young children aged 2 and 20 months were inside.
Independent Garage Owners of America of Somerset County invites participants to a six week factory schooling course at no cost. Classes run one or two meetings weekly, needing at least 16 members to start a phase. IGCA Somerset County meets Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Bittner's Curb Service for preparations.

Thomas Mason aged 85 fell 40 feet while attempting to climb a tree on East River Drive near the Columbia Avenue bridge. Witness Jerry Ligon, 70, alerted Fairmount Park guards and Mason received treatment at Woman’s Medical College Hospital for a minor head cut.
