John Kalan 68 a despondent unemployed miner of Central City killed himself with an 8 mm rifle on a sunlit Saturday afternoon on his son in law Mixe Kasonye’s porch. The bullet entered the sixth dorsal rib near the heart exited below the left shoulder blade and shattered a nearby window. He had been living with his daughter and is survived by two other children. Funeral arrangements were set by Charles E Brumbaugh. Dr F E Sass coroner ruled death a self inflicted act.
