Lightning ignites Harrison garage causing three thousand dollars in damage
A bolt of lightning struck a Harrison garage owned by William Friedline Friday at noon, causing about 3000 dollars in damage. Somerset firefighters sprayed two hose lines from Quemahoning Creek and stopped the blaze from destroying nearby Alva Sicheri's butcher shop and residence. Clarence E. Hoffman, 24, was struck by a bolt of lightning in an oats field four miles east of Somerset during a severe storm. Isaac W. Miller 76 retired farmer of Stonycreek township was discovered by a grandchild about noon Friday. Coroner Dr. W. J. Logue ruled death from a heart attack. He lived with daughter Mrs. Howard Hillegass and left home about 10 p.m. to work in a nearby shop. Surviving daughter, seven grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Esther Thomas, and several brothers. Funeral Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Hillegass home with Rev. Harold Ash officiating. Burial Walker cemetery in Shanksville.

George Miller of Fairhope was committed to the county jail on charges of operating a motor vehicle under liquor influence after his car collided head on with Harry Neal’s in Berlin on Main street near Trinity Reformed church at about 9 30 Thursday night Neal sustained a severe head laceration but was released after treatment. Miller was jailed overnight and appeared before Justice P P Baker for the bond hearing.
