Harrisburg Aug 1 The House sent Gov Leader's Classifed income tax bill to the Senate and kept it through weekend lobbying. Lt Gov Furman referred the bill to the Senate finance committee with a committee meeting set for tomorrow. The measure would levy 1 percent to 6 percent on various incomes totaling 411 million dollars. The Senate, split 26 Republicans 24 Democrats, could pass with GOP votes. House actions included rejecting a Senate version of employment legislation and advancing a boxing code proposal as the Senate readies for a likely clash on the tax measure.

Two Somerset men crawled from a demolished Travelaire biplane after a crash near Somerset County Airport. A tropical storm Brenda moved inland 30 miles northeast of New Orleans and was weakening.
