Old-Time Union Pacific Train Visits Soda Springs
Soda Springs residents will view a historic Union Pacific passenger train on Tuesday June 18 stopping at stations between Granger and Pocatello. The 1860s cars and locomotive will be shown in near original condition with exhibits from Lincoln relics to early sleeping car life. The train heads to Blackfoot for a June 20 celebration and Salt Lake City for a reunions event June 21 22.

Southeastern Idaho 4-H Short Course At Idaho University
The first Southeastern Idaho 4 H Junior Short Course will be held at the University of Idaho southern branch in Pocatello from June 24 to 27. Registration is June 23 afternoon with a welcome dinner and a trip to Red Hill top for a bonfire service. The four day program includes instruction in crops live stock home economics judging and demonstrations plus games and sports. Attendees include 4 H members and leaders from 22 southeastern counties with a five dollar fee for board and lodging.

Better Health Club Holds Regular Meeting
The Better Health club met at the county agent's office on Wednesday afternoon then adjourned to the playground for a general good time. The next meeting will be the last before the summer course at Pocatello and those planning to go should report then.

County agents office hosted a well attended weed meeting last Saturday with farmers. J J Ramsberg state seed commissioner spoke on weed control and urged destruction of small weed patches using three pounds calcium or sodium chlorate per three gallons of water per square rod once plants mature.

Old Timers Reunion Draws 10000 Union Pacific Members
About ten thousand Union Pacific Old Timers and family members are slated to gather in Salt Lake City for a two day reunion June 21 and 22. Twelve special trains will bring guests from eight major cities and the event will feature musical numbers, a tabernacle program, a noon organ recital, a parade, floats, bands, a picnic at Liberty Park, an automobile tour, and an evening at Saltair.

State Board Selects Edison Cantbars
Martin Peter Kiebert of Wallace, 20, Idaho’s pick to succeed Thomas A. Edison, was chosen Sunday by the state board of education at Moscow from 250 candidates. Glen Davis of Buhl, 19, named alternate. Lara Munroe and Bill Barnard of Soda Springs among others considered. Kiebert, a University of Idaho sophomore in radio, must report to Edison laboratories East Orange N J for final exam.

K B K 4 H Club Plans Summer Trip and Fundraiser
The K B K division of the Idaho 4 H club held its third meeting at Albertine de Schenper’s home. Officers were elected including a reporter pianist and chorister. They will attend the summer short course in Pocatello and raise funds by selling popcorn balls at the Idanha theatre Friday and at the Stampede park Legion dance Saturday. Dr Kennedy of Idaho Falls visits Son a Springs June 28 offering reduced price reading glasses and eye exams.
