Fire destroyed the residence of J E Campbell with extensive damage reported. The blaze caused significant structural loss and prompted an emergency response by local firefighters. No injuries were confirmed and investigators continue to assess the cause.
Mr Campbell perished from burns after rushing back into a burning room to rescue his kids when a lamp exploded in the 3 Campbell residence three miles east of town last Tuesday at about 1 am. A grandchild also died. others were saved or fatally burned. The blaze began from lamp oil and consumed a canvas filled room housing twelve children. Despite severe injuries, Mr Campbell persisted to save the children and his home, dying Wednesday morning. Funeral to be held Friday at the Mormon church. crowd to Opera House that evening for music and dancing.
