Destructive Ranch Fire Destroys Livestock and Hay at Beach Idaho

A blaze at Ben Clagg’s Beach Idaho ranch on December 12th destroyed nine work horses a fine stallion a colt eleven Holstein cows two pigs seven sets of harness and 64 tons of hay. The fire started in the barn at 4 am possibly from a lantern kicked by a horse. The loss hits Mr Clagg hard and neighbors express deep sympathy.

A freight car loaded with stored mail caught fire Monday near Nutria Granger area destroying most Christmas packages. The wooden car carried mail for No 9 and was delayed before the blaze was noticed through the roof. Many Christmas presents and dinners were likely lost or delayed as a result of the fire.
