The Soldiers' Home is funded by state appropriations and federal grants with ten dollars per inmate plus interest from endowments. Ninety members are listed, including seventy inmates and fifteen on leave. most are Civil War veterans, some admitted after 1916. Men only, two-year Idaho residency, and proof of actual service required. most stay voluntarily as mustering out is usually for expiration of term.

Child David Cummins Dies at Three in Meadowville
David Grant Cummins, born in Meadowville near Soda Springs Mayland, died December 12 1930 of scarlet fever at his family home. He was 3 years 8 months 20 days old. Funeral services were not held due to the disease. the body laid to rest at Soda Mound Cemetery with Bishop Sterrett of Conda dedicating the Brave. The family and relatives mourn the loss of a happy child.

Pioneer Whitman Dies After Long Idaho Life
