Washington officials say the contingency plan is a working draft and not adopted yet but has moved through most of its first three stages. It envisions voluntary conservation, price measures, and, if shortages worsen, fuel-use priorities and wholesale allocation before possible direct rationing of gasoline and other fuels in extreme cases.

Price On LBJ Land Revealed
An Oklahoma firm paid 4.5 million dollars last year for part of the LBJ Ranch, marking the first public disclosure of the price for Lyndon Johnson land. Real estate appraiser Tom Gardner valued the 3414.3 acres at about 1318 dollars per acre, slightly above the 1250 dollars per acre estimated for nearby land being condemned to enlarge LBJ State Park. The price came to light in condemnation proceedings handled by Texas Assistant Attorney General Les King.

Billy Durwood Jones age 42 died Sunday at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock after an altercation at the Western Lounge in Post. Sheriff Jimmy Holleman said Jones was injured when his head struck the pavement during the Saturday night incident. no arrests had been made. Funeral arrangements were pending at Bell Seale Funeral Home. He was a welder born in Archer City, survived by his wife, three daughters, three sons, his mother Beatrice Cantrell, two sisters and three brothers.
