Snyder Man Fatally Shot After Highway Gun Battle
C F Chapman a 40 year old Snyder oil field worker died after a 15 minute gun fight with Garza County men near Justiceburg. Officers M L Holland and Charles Probst were involved in the confrontation that began when Chapman resisted arrest at a Post service station. Chapman fired six shots and was struck by a head shot from Probst after a struggle. Holland later shot Chapman. Hearing set in Justice of the Peace office in Post. Chapman's wife and two daughters survive, with burial planned in Pasadena Texas.
