Secretary Benson announced a new soil bank program under a 1956 farm law. Farmers may bank croplands by reducing plantings of surplus crops such as cotton wheat corn rice tobacco and peanuts in areas where crops are not far advanced. Rates set include corn 90 cents a bushel cotton 15 cents a pound wheat 1.20 a bushel rice 2.25 a hundred pounds with parity-based payments.
In 104th District Court Roby trial opens in the civil case of Scott Snodgrass Jr. of San Angelo against MKT Railroad. The case, tried twice, resumes under Judge Owen Thomas with Snodgrass represented by Truett Smith and Morris Watson and the defendant by Touchstone, Watson, Coggins. Jurors named include Ellis Markham and J. T. Gilliland among others.
President Eisenhower invites 34 American leaders from business education agriculture advertising motion picture and church groups to a June 12 White House conference to expand people-to-people contacts worldwide. The goal is to strengthen understanding of U S objectives and promote private support for cultural and scientific centers abroad.
A car carrying three people collided with a Missouri Kansas Texas passenger train near Denison Texas. One man and a woman in the car died or were injured? Two others were taken to Denison hospital. Names were not immediately released.

U N Command cuts the four nation armistice supervision board in Korea halting their operations in South Korea and ordering a retreat to the neutral zone.
