Federal agents led by the bureau's top criminal investigator launched a wide manhunt for the gunman who shot U.S. District Judge John H. Wood Jr in the parking lot of his San Antonio apartment. Wood, nicknamed Maximum John for his drug offender sentences, died en route to hospital.
Diamond Shamrock Corp. plans to relocate its headquarters from Cleveland to Dallas, citing anti business attitude from Mayor Dennis Kucinich. Mayor Kucinich condemned the move as blaming the administration, while Diamond Shamrock president William Bricker said the move aims to place the HQ nearer Southwest oil gas and coal assets.

William Clarence Dixon’s trial for involuntary manslaughter in the Dec 8 truck collision that killed five and injured 22 was moved from Roby to Colorado City. District Judge Weldon Kirk set the June 4 date in Mitchell County Court. The defense earlier sought a venue change, objections by the district attorney were withdrawn, and no motive for the move was disclosed.

William C Jang a native of Phoenix Arizona and a University of Arizona graduate will headquarter in Colorado City starting June 21 filling the vacancy created by David Kattes resignation. He earned a bachelors and masters in entomology at the University of Arizona and has worked as a student research assistant and technician focusing on cotton insects. He is a member of the Entomological Society of America and Alpha Zeta. He will work with field staff in the district.
