Thunderchiefs hit Hoa Lac air base in ninth raid
US Air Force jets damaged the Hoa Lac air field 20 miles west of Hanoi in another raid, the ninth since April 24. Ground fighting was light, with troops able to observe Memorial Day services as Chapels were dedicated. Initial reports say the field is unusable again, while pilots describe heavy antiaircraft fire and no MiG engagement.

Severe Texas storms lash large area with hail and tornadoes
Widespread thunderstorms hammered Texas from North to East with hail up to golf ball size and several tornado touches. In Snyder a 4 pm storm dropped up to 0.12 inch while other towns reported heavy rain, flash floods, and damaged windows. Watches stretched from Cotulla to Wichita Falls as more storms were forecast across the north tonight.

Seven Die In Gun Shop Blast At Shamokin Dam
Seven perished and several were injured when a gun shop explosion at Shooter’s Paradise in Shamokin Dam Pennsylvania leveled the building and sparked a second blast. Donald F. Hane owner and five others including Evelyn Gusky and Anthony Dicinque were among the dead. William K. James died later in hospital. Police say a test firing of a .45 pistol may have started the blast.

Israel vows to reopen blockaded Gulf of Aqaba
In Jerusalem the government and U S Britain urged the UN to seek a peaceful resolution as Israel condemns the Egyptian blockade.
