Two Youths Die in One Car Crash on 180 Bridge
A car carrying two young men crashed on a bridge near Snyder just after 5 10 this Memorial Day morning. James Melvin Overton 19 of Plains Texas and Daniel G Rose 20 of Seward Alaska a Citadel student died at Cogdell Memorial Hospital. Investigators believe Overton may have fallen asleep at the wheel as the car left the road struck a guard post and banister tearing off the top. The car contained books clothing luggage a record player and records. Rose a Citadel junior studying abnormal psychology was hitchhiking toward Alaska. Overton had been a student at North Texas State College but reportedly dropped out and worked in oil fields. Bodies at Bell Funeral Home with funeral arrangements pending.

SGT Marion Aydt of Kansas City completed a two day stay in a simulated space capsule at the School of Aviation Medicine. He endured a grueling test after an initial period of tolerance calling the experience a mild taste of hell. The experiment runs from May 20 to May 22 and is led by Lt. Col. Road Work Bids Asked for Scurry County Projects
Scurry County road projects will be bid at the June 10 11 opening by the Texas Highway Department.
