In Korea heavy rains and determined Reds slowed Allied spearheads as UN forces pressed within 12 miles of Kumhwa and seized a crossroads above Inje. Ridgway said Reds were beaten but capable of renewed attack as mud and weather hampered advance and air sorties fell to 126.
Kent County wildcat J. W. Young no. 1 was plugged at 7 350 feet in barren Pennsylvanian lime and shale nine miles west of Clairemont and near Salt Creek field. Humble Oil no. 1 Jeff Justice aims for Pennsylvanian lime in Garza County with drilling starting now. Kewanee Oil no. 2 Oliver continues below 7 105 feet in lime and shale after no. 1-A Bill Wyatt last reported drilling below 6 014 feet.
