Postal rate rise boosts first class stamp to 15 cents
Washington AP reports the cost of mailing a first class letter rises to 15 cents on Monday. The USPS will sell a special stamp with no price printed as 15 cent stamps are not yet printed. The 2 cent hike is the fifth in a decade and after the first ounce letters cost 13 more cents per ounce. Hong Kong AP notes a 6.3 quake north of the Pacific near Iwo Jima, at 8:04 a.m. local time.

Texas lawyers vote on ad rules in June referendum

Snyder High Graduates urged to contribute to society
Snyder High School’s class of 1978 was urged at commencement in Scurry County Coliseum to seek success and contribute to society while following Jesus Christ. Rev. Glenn Border, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, spoke of an in between period before full adulthood and urged graduates to use their knowledge, not be a burden, and pursue a wiser, abundant life through faith. Ray Courtney and Janet Wesson announced honors and scholarships, and diplomas were presented by Max von Roeder.
