The Snyder High School Class of 1973 will graduate 245 seniors at the Scurry County Coliseum in a Wednesday commencement. Valedictorian Jimmy Shelburne and salutatorian Andrea Falls lead a ceremony featuring scholarships, honors, and music by classmates.

Police report a masked robber entered the Kwik Drive In Grocery at 2704 Twenty-fifth Street at 10 08 p m Friday and demanded all the cash from the register. Owner C J Birdwell described the suspect as a 57 inch tall Caucasian man in blue jeans.
The Diamond M Museum hosts a Dalhart Windberg one man show in Snyder from 1 to 5 p.m. today with the well known South Texas artist present. Visitors from out of town are expected to attend the exhibit.
The second annual AIRA rodeo opened with fast, thrilling events for 16 to 19 year olds. Engate Hawk of Clyde led dron[c] riding with 51, while Bobby Nixxon, Garry and Perry Rowland from Lubbock posted top times in tiedown roping and ribbon roping. Local competitors Rex Cow of Gail and Christy Davidson of Ozona earned high placings in ribbon and barrel racing.
Texas lawmakers rush to finish work on teacher retirement funding abortion conscience legislation and primary election finance. Key measures include a 10 percent teacher pension boost costing 40 million over 1974 75 and a state funded primary election expenditure framework as an emergency.
In Berry Alabama a mystery illness affecting over 80 pupils and teachers at an area elementary school was diagnosed as mass hysteria after a two week probe. Dr Inez Fowler a local psychiatrist said the rash itching dizziness and nausea were imagined and spread by suggestion. State health officer Dr Richard Levine said the rash triggered a psychosomatic chain reaction while some sick teachers disputed the verdict.
Bids opened Friday for additions and alterations to Snyder High School and Lamar Junior High School. J W Cooper Construction Co of Odessa submitted the apparent low bid of 1 810 000 with other bids up to 1 925 000. Work includes ninth grade facilities at the high school and seventh and eighth grade expansion at Lamar with a student center library and expanded vocational science and music facilities. Financing comes from a 2.9 million bond issue approved last October. air conditioning contracts in other elementary schools total 355 183 and are funded by the same bond.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8231 and its Ladies Auxiliary host services Monday at Hillside Memorial Gardens on the Colorado City Highway. The Memorial Day rites begin at 10 a.m. The public is invited and all Gold Star Mothers are urged to attend.
