U S Pledges to Plug Gaps From British Withdrawals

Ottawa reports NATO ministers studied U S commitment to cover strategic targets left by any withdrawal of British V bombers from Europe. West Texas town hit by freak winds and hail

Winds from weak thundershowers near Amarillo and Stanton toppled utility poles and damaged a house. Hail fell near Stanton, 20 miles east of Midland, as a grass fire burned along a highway. The Weather Bureau said no tornado. power outages affected Amarillo briefly. showers continued in the Panhandle with warm afternoon highs and cooler coastal temperatures elsewhere.

Baccalaureate Set For Snyder High Class of 1963

The 1963 Snyder High School graduating class will attend a baccalaureate service tonight and commence­ment exercises Monday night at 8. About 131 seniors will receive diplomas. Speakers include Dr. A. B. Lightfoot and Rev. John A. Gordon. Presentation of diplomas by William J. Schiebel and scholarships by J. M. Kayser.

Border Residents Beat Sugar Prices

Residents of Laredo Texas cross into Mexico to beat high sugar prices. Several stores posted sugar at up to 1.05 dollars per 10 pounds. In Nuevo Laredo sugar ranges from 40 to 60 cents per 10 pounds. Americans returning to the United States are limited to 100 pounds of Mexican sugar purchases.
