The all Negro Gulf Coast Conference voted 118 to 4 to approve a 23 point merger plan with the formerly white Texas Conference. If approved in June 25, 1970, the two conferences would dissolve and form a new Texas Annual Conference.
Raymond V. Daugherty 71 retired rancher of Fluvanna died 7:35 p.m. Wednesday in Cogdell Memorial Hospital. He lived in Scurry County 50 years, married Bess Bley in 1919. Survived by wife, son C. A. Daugherty, brother L. G. Daugherty, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral 4 p.m. Friday at Fluvanna Church of Christ. Burial in Fluvanna Cemetery under Bolger Funeral Home. Pallbearers named.
Funeral arrangements were pending at Bell Seale Funeral Home for Robert E. Johnson 77 who lived at 2704 Avenue M. He died at 3 45 p m Wednesday at Hillcrest Lodge. Surviving are his wife three daughters Lou Alic Starnes Altus Okla Lola Mae Gosney Phoenix Ariz Loretta G A yon Oklahoma City four sons Phillip Bob Curtis all Snyder Paul in Vietnam Sister Nellie Roberts Edgerton Kan four brothers Albert Desdemona Newt Dublin Allen and Jimmy Little Rock Ark married Floye Malone March 8 1930 Stephenville. He was a Baptist and a Mason at Dublin.
