The Scurry County Boys' Club begins a capital campaign to raise at least 25 000 for a new building on the former site on Twenty eighth Street. The county will apply 25 000 from fire insurance and the permanent improvement fund. the rest from public subscription. Escapees From Scurry County Jail Remain At Large
Two of three escapees from Scurry County Jail were still at large at noon Saturday as deputies and state officers hunted for the men. Joe Arthur Phillips 22 and Frank Barnett 33 were free after escaping Thursday with James W. Oliver 23 who was recaptured Friday. A pistol taken from Sheriff deputy Preston Wilson was recovered with Oliver, and it was unclear if Phillips and Barnett had weapons.

Bi District Baseball Series Opens Tuesday
The Snyder Tigers and the Hirschi Huskies will open the bi district series Tuesday at Wichita Falls with a 4 p.m. start at Spudder Park. If needed a third game will follow Thursday in Snyder at 1 p.m, and the nightcap would be the second Thursday game. The Huskies are District 4 AAA champions, while the Tigers earned the right by beating the Tornadoes after sharing District 3 AAA. Arrangements were made Saturday morning in Snyder with local officials.

Trio In Close Call In Gas-Filled Elkhart Sewer
Three 13 year olds escaped death after collapsing in a five foot sewer pipe that drains into the St Joseph River. Firemen in gas masks pulled the teens to safety as one emerged and summoned help. 35 Freight Cars Derail Near Fabens After Train Incident
About 35 cars of a 73 car Southern Pacific freight train derailed Saturday near Fabens, 20 miles southeast of El Paso. Some cars caught fire but the fires damaged mostly SP property. Cause not known immediately, line to be cleared by Sunday with trains rerouted. The derailed train was en route from El Paso to San Antonio and the Midwest.
