Improvement Drive Slated for Snyder Campaign
Snyder's annual clean up paint up fix up drive will run from June 18. The Chamber of Commerce Health and Sanitation committee with the Jaycees sponsors the effort. School Bus Driver Hurt in Rock-Throw Incident

Local Soldier Dies In Crash In Allen Parish
Three Fort Polk soldiers were killed and a fourth injured when a car failed to negotiate a curve on Louisiana 10 near Oakdale. Deceased are Sgt. Glen Holmes, 24, Alton M. Brown, 22, and Roy L. Altman. Ralph A. Adams was treated for injuries and later moved to Fort Polk. Police seek the driver as witnesses describe the wreck and field reversal. Holmes served since 1948 with a Korea tour and earned the combat infantry badge and national defense and UN Korea medals.

Local Woman Injured in Morning Auto Crash
Mrs. Helen Marie Barrett of 1914 Coleman was injured when her 1952 Chevrolet hit a utility pole in the 1100 block of Twenty fifth Street at about 5 AM. She was taken to Battenfield Jones Hospital Clinic by Bolger ambulance with a badly lacerated knee and facial and head injuries.

Two Injured in Crash North of Snyder on Clairemont Road
At 8:30 a.m. two people were hurt when a car rear-ended a 1953 Chevrolet pickup 5.3 miles north of Snyder on Clairemont Road. Harold Fisher, 41, and Earl Orr, 37, were taken to Cogdell Memorial Hospital. Fisher had head lacerations and a mild concussion. Orr suffered bruises. The driver of the car received a traffic ticket.
