A four senator group in Texas proposed a new two-year tax plan to raise about 70 million dollars by boosting gasoline by two cents per gallon to six cents total, cigarettes by one cent per pack to five cents, and beer tax from two to 3.30 dollars per barrel. Four armed white men robbed the First National Bank of Jacksonville of between 85 000 and 90 000 after kidnapping assistant vice president Jesse N Wood from his home. The bandits tied up employees, loaded the money into a repossessed bank car and a cheap black suitcase, then fled as roadblocks formed around Jacksonville Alabama. No injuries were reported. Federal and local officers pursued the robbers.

Fiery Crash Kills Three On Highway 350
Three people died in a head on crash nine miles northeast of Snyder on Highway 350. Bomphus Dunlap, 46, of Big Spring. Darrell Arthur Richard, 34, and Dewey Wayne Fowler, 15, of Odessa, were killed when Dunlap allegedly crossed into the opposite lane. Richard and Fowler perished in a burning car. Dunlap moved to Big Spring yesterday from Colorado City. Funeral arrangements awaited at Nalley Funeral Home. Fowler’s parents live in Odessa. a Minco, Oklahoma trip was noted for Richard.
