A car and a pickup collided on farm road 1606 near here at about 6 45 a m causing considerable damage with no injuries. Sheriff deputy Bill Love investigated. The car was a 1950 Chevrolet sedan driven by Ysmael Gonzalez Rodriguez 51 of Snyder. The pickup was a 1954 Ford owned by Silver City district of Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Co driven by Ben Nitsch Jr 27 of Colorado City.

Explosions rip four tanks at Kent Oil plant in Galena
In Galena Maryland a series of explosions and a fire at the Kent Oil Co bulk storage plant killed two volunteer firefighters and injured at least eight others. The dead were Richard Lockwood Loller 38 and Harry Robert Brice 25. The blast destroyed four storage tanks a barn an office building and damaged nearby homes and the Galena school.
