Snyder Chamber Challenges Dallas in Membership Drive
The Snyder Chamber of Commerce challenged Dallas to a day long push for new members. Dan Eddy, recent top young man in Dallas, spoke at Snyder’s breakfast and urged each of 21 workers to contribute 3.50 for a pot while aiming to recruit 200 new members in one day. Eddy cited Snyder’s assets and urged local leaders to attract business and tourism with better facilities. Present were Herbert Feather and 21 attendees including Wayland Holt and Nolan von Roeder.

Three Vehicles In Collision Near Here In Rain
A three vehicle crash four miles north of town during a rainstorm caused heavy property damage but no injuries. Granville Hall Clanton drove a 1954 Ford pickup south, rear ending Robert Marshall Erwin’s 1951 Chevrolet club coupe. The pickup then spun and struck Fay Swalley’s 1955 Mercury sedan traveling north. The incident occurred on U S Highway 84 at 6 15 p m. Clanton received a ticket for traffic regulation violation. Total damage estimated at $1500, with the pickup and Mercury most damaged.

Calvert Cavness testify on Veterans Land Board probe
State Comptroller Robert S. Calvert and State Auditor C H Cavness testified before the Senate Investigating Committee. They said they would not have approved or closed certain land board actions if a quorum and proper authorization had been known. Cavness urged a possible need for a law to handle reports when the attorney general is involved. Calvert said he would have declined payments on land deals lacking a quorum and noted two member approval may be required under Rudder. The investigation paused for a court lead review by the attorney general’s office.

Retired Supreme Court Justice Owen J. Roberts Dies
