China accused 30 Soviet soldiers of intruding over two miles into northeast China on Tuesday, wounding several and roughing up 14 others. Beijing said the incident prompted a protest note to the Soviet ambassador, calling it an organized provocation as Sino-Soviet boundary talks had resumed.

One hundred eight students will receive associate degrees in commerce at eight o clock tonight at Western Texas College. Sixteen students will receive certificates of technology after one year programs. Dr. Kenneth Ashworth will be guest speaker, introduced by WTC president Dr. Robert L. Clinton. R C Patton will welcome attendees. Associate in Arts degrees will be shown by Dr. Ben Brock, Associate in Applied Science degrees by Dr. Gene McClurg. Darrell Grimley will give the invocation and Pat Abbananto will give the benediction. Special music by Mrs. Jane Womack on the Sears carillon. Ushers are Phi Theta Kappa members Connie Jones, Julie Dozier, Julie Hoover and Jeanette Long.
Thirty six graduates will be recognized at the Western Texas College commencement tonight for scholastic achievement. Nine seniors graduate summa cum laude including Jeri Barousett and William Sullenger of Snyder, Rachel Phillips of Snyder, Marie Berry Collins of Roscoe, Chris Brown of Midland, and Shirley Pavlik of Snyder, all with high GPAs.
Matt Graham, longtime educator and barber in Colorado City, blends teaching with barbering. He earned history and government degrees from UT Austin and spent about 25 years in education, including principal and superintendent roles in Haskell and Jones Counties. He retired from teaching in 1950 and now runs a barber shop on Main Street, mixing history chats with haircuts.
