Student as Human Guinea Pig Shows Eager Participation

Seattle student David Cargo, a 22 year old University of Washington senior, has become a highly paid human guinea pig in medical research. Over two years he has taken pills smoked marijuana swallowed tubing and faced procedures for about 500 dollars, driven by easy money curiosity and helping cover rent.

Paula Baldwin of Snyder was chosen District 8 Queen at the Veterans of Foreign Wars District 8 meeting at Snyder Post 8231. New district officers include Jack Sea of Breckenridge as commander and J W Whittfill of Rotan as senior vice commander. Highlights featured a dance and a barbecue lunch.

Viking landings planned for Mars 1976 missions

Two unmanned Viking spacecraft will reach Mars in 1976. One aims for a landing near a massive crevasse while the other lands 1000 miles northeast along the north polar veil. Both carry life detection gear and will return panoramic stereo color images and atmospheric, soil, and seismic data.

Moss Rites Held Today

Funeral rites for Jam Moss 96 were held at 10 30 a m at St Elizabeth Catholic Church with burial in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Moss a WWII veteran and local resident since 1957 survived by wife Alfrieda, daughter Mary, daughter Netty, son Jim Moss III, mother Mrs Della Moss and several siblings. He was active in Veterans groups and Knights of Columbus.

Two Snyder High School pupils earned runner up honors at the UIL state meet in Austin. Mark May took second in editorial writing and Danny Martin placed second in boys poetry interpretation, as the Snyder team competed in Class 4A for the first time.

Supreme Court to review five Texas labor law cases

The Supreme Court agreed to hear appeals from Texas challenging five laws aimed at limiting labor organizing and picketing in the Rio Grande valley. WTC Rodeo Team II Regional Champ Triumphs in Southwest

Western Texas College rodeo team clinched the Southwest Regional NIRA title finishing top at New Mexico State University with 370 points. Tarleton State 361.5, ENMU 195 follow. Tutt Garnett led calf roping and steer wrestling, with Mike Cathey earning all around cowboy honors as WTC sealed seven first place trophies in 10 rodeos. Bozeman, Mont hosts nationals June 19 23.

Phase Of Indian Pact Completed At Wounded Knee

The first phase of a disarmament agreement between the government and militant Indians at Wounded Knee was completed. Negotiators expressed optimism the 69 day occupation would end this week as Indian leaders handed over weapons lists and resident names. Marshals reported activity along the village perimeter with several arrests near federal blockades. Both sides warned of possible future takeovers and government reaction.
