Construction is to start in about ten days with completion by July next year and school for September 1959.

Gov. Price Daniel approved flood prevention plans for upper Lake Fork Creek in Northeast Texas and Dry Devils River and Lowrey Draw in West Texas. The $4.96 million program covers 227 square miles in Hopkins, Hunt, and Rains counties and 233 square miles in Sutton and Schleicher counties, with 13 dams on Dry Devils River and Lowrey Draw and 23 flood retarding structures on Lake Fork Creek. The plan aims to protect about 75 percent of Sonora and prevent flood damages akin to Lampasas in 1957.

Man Shot Near Cogdell Hospital Injures Snyder Man
Sherman Armstrong, 27, of 1704 Avenue N, Snyder, was wounded by a .22 caliber gunshot last night about five miles south of Cogdell Hospital on a country road. He is in serious condition at Cogdell Memorial Hospital and was brought in by his wife. Sheriff Earl Abercrombie continues the investigation.
