President Luis Echeverria said Mexico would satisfy the Armed Revolutionary Forces of the People demands to save the life of Terrance G. Leonhardy the U.S. consul general in Guadalajara who was abducted Friday. The group sought the release and exile of 30 prisoners in Havana and Cuba consented to asylum. Local and federal authorities paused investigations as orders to follow the captors demands were issued. The diplomat, father of two, was seized four blocks from his home in Guadalajara.
Vera McSpadden, wife of Dr W B McSpadden, elected Place 1 on Snyder Independent School District Board after 344 votes in a runoff against Ricardo Corrales who had 214 votes. Turnout 559 ballots with one void. McSpadden the first woman to serve on the board.
