Snyder High Band Scores Double First at Tri-State Meet
Snyder High School Concert Band led its division by taking first in both concert playing and sight reading at the Tri State Competitions in Chiabosts, with the stage band also winning concert play and earning festival outstanding band honors. Mrs Formby Improves After Texas Accident
Mrs Marshall Formby wife of the Democratic gubernatorial candidate showed a slight improvement Saturday after a serious auto crash. The 35 year old underwent a two hour operation for a ruptured liver and fractured ribs in Fort Worth. Her children Davis four and Frances six were in good condition. The family was en route to Plainview when the crash occurred and Formby was in the Dallas area at the time.

Andrews Publisher C. W. Roberts Dies
Charles W. Roberts Sr., 73, founder and longtime publisher of the Andrews County News, died Saturday after a heart attack. Services set for 2:30 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. Roberts moved to Texas in 1909 from Alabama, graduated from Baylor, and started the newspaper in 1934. He served as Andrews County judge from 1940 to 1946. Survivors include his widow, four sons and two others.
