Americans Crush Red Counterattack Near Dong Ha
US and South Vietnamese forces repelled a North Vietnamese counterattack around Dong Ha in four days of fighting. Total enemy casualties were about 1,303 with allied losses at 108 killed and 541 wounded near Dong Ha and Hue. Marines and Army reinforcements approached the 3rd Marine Division HQ as air and artillery pounded the attacker before they withdrew at night.
