Two divers from Fort Worth prepared to probe the lake bottom as rough water hindered diving. Divers Spann and Freeman said wind and currents would complicate bottom work. Police and local crews maintained drag lines, boats and searchlights from Webb Air Force Base trucks. Witnesses reported Sumruld disappeared after a propeller key failed, leaving him to swim for shore.
