Drug Ban Is Vetoed At SDS National Conference
At a weekend SDS meeting in Austin a vetoed resolution condemned drug use by SDS members. A separate 10 point liberation plan passed 95-92 calling for ending the track system and expulsions, while another proposal urged removal of ROTC. A pro Black Panthers resolution also passed. About 800 attended as UT officials barred use of the Student Union.

Dallas doctor’s wife shoots intruder in home defense
In Dallas a doctor’s wife killed John Walford Leyh, 19, a Maryland probation violator, during Sunday night’s attack at their residence. Police said Leyh confronted Mrs. Dickinson after a struggle with her husband, who was awakened by the commotion. She fired at him in the face, neck and hand as he advanced.

Snyder High School swept its third straight district title at the University Interscholastic League literary contest in University. Mexican Americans March Quietly Through Del Rio Rally
Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in Del Rio Texas for a peaceful Palm Sunday march calling for Mexican American equality. Police reported 1200 to 4000 participants as the crowd moved from the Civic Center along U S 90 and 277 ending in a park mass. A manifesto protesting Gov. Preston Smith and the VISTA program was posted but later torn down at the courthouse.

PEP Opens Here Tonight at First Baptist Church
A Personal Evangelism Institute as part of the Encounter Crusade starts at 7 p.m. today at First Baptist Church. Twenty six congregations join in two hour sessions through Wednesday.
