Snyder Musicians Excel At ISL Solo Ensemble Contest
Snyder High School and Snyder junior high performed strongly at the Region II Interscholastic League event drawing about 1,000 students from 48 schools across Texas. Snyder High School earned 16 Division I solo ratings and five in ensembles with one Division II rating. the junior high recorded 14 Division I solo ratings, two ensemble ratings, and multiple Division II and III ratings across solos and ensembles.

Snyder hosted the regional Interscholastic League solo and ensemble contests replacing the annual school music festival. Local musicians have historically won honors at such events as they visit many venues statewide. Also highlighted were road projects and a planned 7.8 mile county highway project. A fire hazard survey will be conducted April 16 by Insurance Fieldman inspectors to guide citizen actions. Fire damages oil heater treater near Lion Gas Plant
A heater treater fire on an oil lease about 18 miles southwest of here burned out before firefighters arrived. Attendant shut valves as flames began, stopping the blaze around 3:30 yesterday afternoon with only slight damage reported. Fire Chief D. A. Porter noted no injuries.

Mrs Cliett Accepts Notice After Prolonged Fight Over Eneri Farm
Irene Cliett agreed to an injunction regarding half of the 703 acre Waller County farm after a 24 year court battle. She had resisted, claiming partnership with George Scott, who lived there and died in 1933. Deputy marshals had difficulty serving the order as a sister blocked access. Cliett said she would shoot if necessary to defend her land while vowing to continue the fight.
