Tanker Texaco Oklahoma sinks leaving many crew missing
Thirty three of forty four crew members were missing when the Texaco Oklahoma broke in two in heavy Atlantic seas 120 miles northeast of Cape Hatteras. Eleven survivors were rescued from a life raft by the Sasstown as Coast Guard and a passing freighter searched for others.

Two Found Dead in Houston Plane Crash Wreckage
A twin engine plane crash near the San Jacinto River after departing Houston Intercontinental Airport left two bodies found by a police helicopter crew. Part-owner James L. Speer could not identify the two aboard. A Montgomery County Medical examiner was dispatched from Conroe to the scene as Civil Air Patrol cadets and authorities searched eight miles north of the airport overnight.

Sappers raid U S artillery base near Da Nang heavy losses

Ten absentee votes were cast this morning in the Snyder School trustee race where six candidates seek three seats. Absentee voting ends Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the school administration building. In the city election eight candidates compete for three council seats with voting ending Friday at 5 p.m. at City Hall.
