Three Believed Dead In Philadelphia Blast
A four story granary exploded in Philadelphia near 30th and Market last night, creating a 10 block swath of destruction. At least three people were missing and believed dead, four were critically injured, with many others treated for injuries as smoke cleared. The Tidewater Mill and Elevator Co building suffered total damage, with windows, ceilings, and offices overturned. The blast, felt 25 miles away, disrupted communications and traffic as investigators pondered a dust ignition. Samuel Purdy of the milling firm survived with injuries after attempting to light a drying vat pilot.

Two Snyder Youths Held Over Car Theft Case
Law enforcement across the Southwest traced two stolen cars to Estancia New Mexico where 15 and 16 year old Snyder youths were arrested. Officers Bill Love and Eugene Parker planned to travel there to recover the youths and return them to the sheriff's department. The youths admitted the Tuesday night burglary of Caprock Materials Co.

Two Snyder Women Hurt In Accident
Two Snyder women were slightly injured in an automobile accident about 7:15 last night. Mrs. A. B. Baze, 55, of 2011 Avenue O, and Mrs. D. Malone, 2100 Avenue C, were taken to Cogdell Memorial Hospital by Bolger ambulance. The crash occurred in the 2400 block of Avenue Q, involving a 1955 Chrysler driven by Albert Baze and a 1951 Chevrolet truck driven by Samuel L. Long of Amherst, Texas. Injuries were not believed serious.
