Three Wildcats Due To Start Area Drilling
Three shallow wildcats in Garza County and a deep wildcat in northwest Howard County are slated to begin drilling soon. Chapman Refining Co. of Enid Oklahoma will drill the Howard project as the No. 1 Joe Myers 330 feet from the north and west lines of section 8-33-12n-T&P, 15 miles northwest of Big Spring on a 325 acre lease with an estimated depth of 9,500 feet pending Railroad Commission approval. In Garza County Gilbert D. Moore of Dallas will drill the No. 1 H. T. Bruedigam 4,000 foot wildcat two miles southwest of Southland on a 156.4 acre lease. Clifton Thomas and others of San Angelo will drill the No. 1 G. F. Shelton a 3,600 foot prospector four miles northwest of Post on a 162.7 acre lease.

Violent earthquake knocks out Prato seismograph
An earthquake so violent it disabled the Prato Observatory seismograph was recorded today. The tremor, about 6:20 a.m. local time, was reported from Florence Ireland and England with officials centering the quake in eastern Greece or Turkey. An English observatory official compared it to August disaster quakes off Greece.
