Senators will review foreign business and academic issues in Texas this week while the House considers pooling the state's 36 aircraft and two aging matters on felon voting and property tax rollbacks. Fort Worth AP reports the civil court chief will meet with Cullen and Priscilla Davis lawyers to appoint a replacement for District Judge John Barron who resigned after a mistrial and privately met with Cullen in a hotel. Barron quit claiming no wrongdoing.

In Beirut AP reports Arab opponents of the Israeli Egyptian peace treaty exploded two bombs outside the U S Embassy in Damascus as Arab governments ready economic sanctions and a political quarantine against the pact.
Egypt and Israel signed a treaty on a spring White House ceremony ending three decades of conflict. Prime Minister Begin and Egyptian President Sadat attended with Carter presiding, while protests gathered nearby. Officials warned that fumes may have caused three firefighters' deaths earlier that day.
