About 1,000 North Vietnamese troops attacked a U.S. artillery base in the central highlands in a heavy four hour battle. U.S. and ARVN defenders halted the assault with 135 NVA and 19 Americans killed and 51 Americans wounded. Viet Cong losses were about 284 with 10 U.S. soldiers killed nationwide.

Coed’s Story Fails To Free Tech Suspect
In Lubbock Benjamin Lach, 23, bound over to a grand jury on murder charges in the death of Texas Tech cleaning woman Sarah Alice Morgan. A coed testified Lach had an alibi, but prosecutors argued enough evidence showed Lach planned the Dec. 4 slaying using a surgeon’s scalpel and hacksaw blade in the science building.

High Point teen charged in schoolyard murder plot
