Santa Fe Railway has sold wrecked rail cars left along the Twenty sixth Street crossing after a 16 car derailment last Sunday at 9 30 a m. About eight cars remain and will move to new owners. Damage could total about 100000 with remaining derailed cars a total loss. Guards protect the site at night.

The House Appropriations Committee cut funds for two Great Society programs in the 1966 nonmilitary money bill. Rent subsidies see a $12 million contract authority and the Teachers Corps gets $10 million, far below Johnson requests. The action reduces a total bill by about $248.7 million, much of it from a bookkeeping adjustment. The rent program aids low income housing while the Teachers Corps targets staffing for districts with many poor students.
Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton plans an undersea laboratory, the first of its kind in the United States.
