Minica Receives Life Term In Midland Rape Trial
Albert Louis Minica, 35, of Odessa and formerly of Snyder, was given a life sentence by a Midland jury after pleading guilty to rape in 142nd District Court. The attack on October 27, 1957, involved a knife, a red shawl, and a stocking as the assailant forced a Midland mother of four from her home to be assaulted in the back yard. The case followed a previous five year sentence from Snyder for similar charges. Prosecutor Joseph H. Mums led, with W. G. Abbott defending. The trial followed Minica’s shift from not guilty to guilty after a Midland resident identified him.
