A Penn Central freight train struck a school bus at a private grade crossing in Congers Rockland County killing at least three of the 90 pupils aboard. The 83 car train from Weehawken to Selkirk hit broadside at 7 99 a m at a crossing without warning devices. The crash left the bus twisted and strewn with books lunches and injured and dead students en route to Nyack High School.
