Cotton Use Up Slightly in February Census figures show lower daily consumption
The Census Bureau reports February cotton consumption at 34,218 bales per working day, down from 38,001 a year earlier and 33,623 in January. Total February consumption reached 684,366 bales, with January at 840,567 and a year ago 760,017. Lint and linters totals for seven months ending March 2 stand at 5,277,763 and 936,834 bales respectively, against last year’s 5,431,702 and 1,056,453. On hand March 2 inventories include 1,701,103 bales of lint in consuming establishments, 14,051,133 bales in public storage and at presses, compared with last year.
