Tornado Sighted North West of Seminole West Texas
A small twister touched down about five miles northwest of Seminole at 11 30 am on Wednesday following a severe weather forecast. The tornado disappeared without known damage, per the Seminole sheriff and Weather Bureau. An oil field worker reported the sighting to Big Spring radio. Forecasts warned of a few tornadoes large hail and strong gusty winds across West Texas.

Parr Conviction Upheld For Threatening Life in Courthouse

Blast at Merck Plant Kills Three in New Jersey
A vitamin laboratory explosion at Merck and Co in Linden New Jersey killed three men Walter Green Ed Centrowski and Edward L Muisch and injured eleven others early today. Fire was controlled soon after and ten workers received minor injuries at the plant dispensary. Leo Bitsch was seriously injured and taken to Rahway hospital. The blast damaged the first floor of a three story brick building and one worker 25 feet from the blast escaped unharmed. This was the plant’s first fatal accident since 1947.
Ratliff Opposes Additions to Texas Taxes
Sen. David W. Ratliff, member of the budget board and finance committees, says the appropriation bill already funds state services with a record high expenditure and a projected $40 to $50 million surplus, pledging to oppose any new taxes and to use the surplus for teacher raises and essential needs. Newton A. Handy, 41, of a Sweetwater hotel, left a note saying he decided to end it all and crashed his sedan into a truck driven by William Baker, 34, of Monahans. Baker was seriously injured. Justice of the Peace Hollis Head ruled Handy intended self harm as the crash occurred.
