Eastland Murder Case Goes To Jury In 1963 Slaying
In Eastland Texas Mrs Maurine Bratton 45 is charged with the rifle slaying of her ex husband R L Bratton 41 at her Ranger area ranch on Sept 30 1963. Former Sheriff Lee Hornet testified she said I have just killed my husband and handed him a deer rifle with a telescopic sight. Bratton body was found near the ranch gate 17 steps from the house. Defense showed a battered front door and testimony that the jock had been knocked off and Bratton said the door had been kicked in by her former husband.
